Park Street Performing Arts Centre

Hull
What it’s like
Weekly classes in musical theatre, drama, singing and dance that build up to proper stage productions.
This is a training ground rather than a one-off show: kids sign up for classes in musical theatre, drama, singing and dance, and the payoff is getting to perform in actual productions afterwards, from concerts and showcases to full plays and musicals. If your child has been begging to be in a musical rather than just watch one, this is the sort of place that gets them there.
The performing side seems to be taken seriously, with students working towards productions the centre describes as high quality rather than just an end-of-term singalong. That's a nice thing to dangle in front of a kid who needs a reason to practise their lines at home.
Parking is the one practical snag worth knowing about. On-site space is very limited and street parking nearby comes with restrictions to watch for, so the easier option is the car park at St Stephen's Shopping Centre across the road, though you will pay for it.
Birthday parties are also on offer here, so if your child is already hooked on the drama classes, it's an easy option for a party that fits the theme.
