What it’s like
A tabletop games café where you can hire a gaming table, dip into the board game library or join a tournament night.
This is a spot for people who like their games with a table, not a screen. Hire one of the 6 by 4 gaming tables for £5 and bring your own miniatures, or work through the board game library on a quieter afternoon. There are beginner sessions billed as "How to get into the Hobby", so you don't need to already own an army of painted figures to turn up.
The week has a rhythm to it. Thursday nights are Commander events at £5, Friday brings a Magic the Gathering draft for £15, and there's a monthly MCP tournament at £10 for anyone who wants a bit more competition than a casual pick-up game. Table hire needs booking ahead, but the events themselves are a mix of drop-in and RSVP, so check which one you fancy before you head down.
There's a café on site doing barista coffee, locally-produced sweet goods and soft drinks, which makes a few hours here an easy stretch rather than a rushed one. Opening hours shift through the week, with the earliest start on Saturday at 10am and Friday running a long stretch from midday to 10pm. Tuesdays it's shut altogether, and it closes over the Christmas period from the 23rd to the 31st of December plus New Year's Day.
The £15 draft night is the one that'll sting if you're just curious rather than committed, but the £5 table hire and Commander night are a cheap way to see if the place suits you first.
