What it’s like

An adults-only choir in Stafford where you turn up on a Monday evening and sing West End musical theatre numbers in harmony.

This one's for the grown-ups. Magic Voices is an over-18s choir that meets on Monday evenings, 7.30pm to 9.45pm, and the whole session is built around singing musical theatre songs in harmony. No auditions, no sheet music to read in advance, no pressure to already be able to hold a tune. You just turn up.

The first session is free, which makes it an easy one to try without committing to anything. Bring a bottle of water and that's about it. Whether you've sung in choirs for years or never sung outside the shower, the site is clear that everyone gets a warm welcome, and that open-door approach is really the whole pitch here.

It's a decent chunk of your evening, getting on for two and a quarter hours, so it suits people who want to properly settle into something rather than dip in for twenty minutes. There's free parking at the rear and street parking too, so getting there isn't the faff it can be with some evening classes.

If you've been meaning to join a choir but the idea of an audition puts you off, this sidesteps that entirely. It's a straightforward Monday night commitment built around musical theatre songs, with the free taster there to let you work out if it's your kind of evening before you pay for anything.
