Stafford Clay Studio
WHERE
Stafford
What it’s like
A hands-on pottery studio where you throw, hand build or slab build your own clay pieces, with courses geared at adults.
This one is about getting your hands dirty at the wheel rather than watching someone else do it. There's a two-hour throwing taster session if you fancy trying the wheel for the first time, and proper wheel throwing courses if you want to get past the wobbly-bowl stage. Hand building and slab building are on offer too, which suit anyone who'd rather build up a piece with their hands than fight a spinning lump of clay.
The courses lean towards adults, so this isn't really one for turning up with young kids in tow. It reads more like a proper skill to pick up over a few sessions than a quick drop-in craft activity, which is fair enough given you're working with a pottery wheel.
It also does the group occasion side of things well. Hen and stag parties are catered for, and you can book group sessions or team-building workshops if you want a studio afternoon instead of the usual pub quiz or escape room. That makes it a decent shout for a birthday do or a work outing that wants to be a bit different.
