What it’s like

Book the whole heated pool to yourselves for an hour or two, just you and whoever you bring to supervise.

This is a private hire pool, not a public splash session, so when you book it you've got the whole thing to yourselves. The water's kept at 28 to 30 degrees, which is properly warm, closer to a bath than your average leisure centre pool. You book for an hour, two hours, or longer, and that slot includes time to get changed, so don't count on the full hour being water time.

There's no lifeguard on duty. That's the trade-off for having the place to yourselves: you're responsible for your own safety, and the site is strict that one adult swimmer over 18 must supervise every two babies, young children or non-swimmers in your group. Worth doing the maths on numbers before you book if you're bringing more than one small child per adult.

It suits a family swim or a private lesson rather than a birthday do. Parties and groups of children or teenagers aren't allowed at all, so if you were picturing a pool party for a class of eight-year-olds, this isn't that. No food in or around the pool area either, and parking is limited to three cars, so check that works for however many of you are going.

Changing rooms, a shower, toilet and basin are all part of the hire. If anything comes up during your session, you're given a mobile number for the person running it, Steve, so you're not stuck without a way to reach anyone.

Plan your visit

How does booking work?

You hire the whole pool privately for 1, 2 hours or longer. There's no turning up to a public session, it's all pre-booked.

Is there a lifeguard?

There isn't one. You're supervising yourselves, and an adult over 18 has to watch every two young children or non-swimmers.

Can we bring food?

Food isn't allowed in or around the pool area, so eat before you arrive or after you leave.

Can we book it for a birthday party?

Parties and groups of children or teenagers aren't allowed, so it's not set up for that kind of booking.

What facilities do we get?

Changing rooms, a shower, toilet and basin, all included in your time slot. Parking is free but limited to three vehicles.

How warm is the water?

It's kept at 28 to 30 degrees, warmer than most public pools.
