What it’s like
Segways through proper forest terrain, with tours for over-10s who are tall and strong enough to handle the machine.
This isn't a car park loop on a Segway. You're out on varied forest terrain at Cann Woods, weaving between trees with one-to-one training first so nobody's wobbling about on their own. There's a skills area with an assault track too, and groups can add on den building if they fancy something slower paced afterwards.
It's not for younger kids. The minimum age is 10, and anyone under 18 needs an adult riding alongside them, actually participating rather than just watching from the path. There's a minimum weight of 5 stone 4 pounds as well, which is worth knowing before you promise a smaller child a go. Prices run from £27 for the Discovery Tour up to £37 for the Safari & Skills Tour, and only three sessions run a day because the terrain drains the batteries fast, so weekends fill up.
Rain doesn't stop play here, they're mostly under trees, which is a decent reason to book this over an open-air activity when the forecast looks grim. Booking ahead is strongly recommended rather than optional in practice, especially in the school holidays when turning up on spec often means disappointment. Parking's free on site, and afterwards Elfordleigh next door does a reasonably priced menu including afternoon tea, or you can bring your own and sit out on the benches under the trees.
Cancel with less than 48 hours notice and you won't get a refund unless the places get resold, so it's not a booking to make lightly if your plans might shift. Gift vouchers aren't refundable either, only direct tour bookings are, which is a fair catch to know about if you're buying one as a present.
