What it’s like

One-to-one and small group music lessons for ages 2 and up, from mini music sessions to piano, guitar and singing classes.

Instruments here are taught as proper 30-minute classes rather than a general music hour, with piano, keyboard, guitar, ukulele and singing all on the list. The youngest ones (2 to 4) get their own mini music class, which is the sensible way in if you've got a toddler who bangs on the piano at home but isn't ready to sit still for a real lesson.

Piano classes are split by age, and the pricing splits with them: £32 for the 5 to 8 group and £23 for 7 to 15, which is a odd overlap in ages but worth knowing if you're booking for a seven-year-old, since the cheaper class might be the one to ask for. Singing classes are £23 across the board. None of it's cheap for half an hour, but it's a one-to-one or small-class setup rather than a hall full of kids, which is usually where the money goes in music teaching.

There's an annual student performance show, so whatever your child's learning isn't just for the practice room, it gets an actual audience once a year. That's the bit worth building toward if you're trying to keep a reluctant seven-year-old at the keyboard through the winter term.

Opening hours are generous: 11am to 8pm on weekdays, and 10am to 3pm at weekends, so there's room to fit lessons around school and work without everything happening at 4pm on a Tuesday.
