Leith Depot
WHERE
Edinburgh
What it’s like
A Leith pub and restaurant with proper food, seasonal specials and step-free access if you're stopping in with the family for a meal.
This is a food and drink stop rather than a soft play or attraction, so the appeal for a family visit is a decent sit-down meal rather than anything built specifically for kids. The kitchen does fresh, seasonal food with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, and there's a lunch menu under a tenner alongside daily specials, which is handy if you're feeding a fussy eater without blowing the budget.
Food runs from 12pm to 9pm daily, so that's your window if you're bringing children along. Outside those hours it switches into more of a late bar, open until midnight most nights and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, which isn't really family territory.
Getting in and around is straightforward. It's ground level with ramps at the main entrance and into the venue, ramps to the stage too, and there's an accessible toilet on site. Dogs are welcome on a lead, so if your family outing includes the family dog, that's one less thing to sort.
Reservations are recommended if you want to be sure of a table, and they'll take pre-orders for larger groups, which is worth arranging ahead if you're coming as a bigger crew for lunch or a birthday meal.
