What it’s like

Pick a blank piece from over 120 options and paint it yourself with proper paints and stencils, ready to collect a week or so later.

You turn up, choose from more than 120 pottery pieces, and get stuck in with 30 paints plus stencils and accents to make it look like you knew what you were doing. Pieces start at £5, though the ones people actually pick tend to land around £18, so budget for that rather than the headline price.

There's no studio fee just to book a table, which is fair enough, but on weekends and school breaks they do charge non-painting adults a small fee if they're just sitting there watching. Paint alongside your kid instead and that fee comes off your bill anyway, so it barely counts as a downside.

Whatever gets painted goes off to the kiln and takes 7 to 10 days to come back, so this isn't a same-day souvenir. It's more of a plan-ahead thing, and worth remembering if you were hoping to walk out with a finished mug.

Parking round the studio is limited, street parking mostly, so factor in a bit of a walk if you're driving. Book ahead for weekends and holidays, and definitely book if there's four or more of you coming midweek. They can also run early evening slots for closing time, though the site says they sometimes shut early.

How much does it cost?

Pieces start from £5, but the popular ones people actually choose are more like £18. No extra studio fee to book a table.

Do we need to book?

Not always. Weekends, school holidays, and groups of 4 or more midweek, yes, book ahead.

When can we collect the finished pottery?

It goes in the kiln after your session and is usually ready in 7 to 10 days.

Can we book it for a birthday party?

Yes, they'll open the studio after hours for private parties. Expect a deposit or studio fee depending on group size and timing.

Is there a fee for adults who aren't painting?

On weekends and school breaks there's a small studio fee for non-painting adults, but it's knocked off your bill if you decide to paint instead.
