What it’s like
Wraparound care for school-age kids, from breakfast club at 7am to a holiday club that runs the whole day.
This is the wraparound care that fills the gaps school hours leave: a breakfast club before the bell, an after school club once it's rung, and a full day holiday club when term ends. In the big hall they play football, and there's a dressing up corner with puppets for the ones who'd rather run a puppet show than a five-a-side. Drawing tables and a chill zone are there for whoever needs a quieter half hour, which is a nice bit of thinking, not every club bothers with somewhere to just sit.
Breakfast club runs 7:30 to 8:30am and includes a proper breakfast, toast, cereal, fresh fruit, juice, plus a quick play before school starts. After school club picks up at 3:15pm and runs to 6pm. Holiday club is the long one, 8am to 5:30pm, built for the school holidays when you need somewhere for the whole day rather than a couple of hours.
It suits ages 4 to 13, so it stretches from reception-age kids into secondary school territory, which is useful if you've got siblings a few years apart and don't fancy two different drop-offs. For holiday club you send your child with two snacks, a lunch and a drink.
If the standard hours don't fit your shift pattern, there's an early drop off at 7am for an extra £5 per child, and a late pick up between 6 and 7pm for an additional charge. Worth sorting in advance if you know you'll need it regularly, rather than turning up and hoping.
