What it’s like

A countryside walking spot near Teignbridge, though the reservoir itself is now restricted to anglers and the western bank is shut for soft mud.

This one's a bit of a mixed bag. The walks around the nearby Tottiford and Trenchford reservoirs are the actual reason to come, proper countryside paths that make for a decent stretch of the legs with a pushchair or a dog on a lead. Kennick itself is a different story.

Worth knowing before you set off: the western bank at Kennick is closed because of soft mud, and the reservoir is now restricted to anglers only, since the remaining banks are too narrow for general access. So if you were picturing a walk right round the water at Kennick, that's not on offer at the moment. The countryside around it is still there to enjoy, just via the neighbouring reservoirs rather than Kennick's own banks.

There's parking and toilets on site, which takes the edge off a walk with small children, but beyond that the details are thin. No set opening hours or prices to report, and nothing on food, so treat this as a bring-your-own-snacks kind of outing rather than one with a café to fall back on.

Can we walk all the way round Kennick Reservoir?

Not currently. The western bank is closed due to soft mud, and the reservoir is restricted to anglers only because the remaining banks are too narrow.

So what is there to do here with kids?

The countryside walks around the nearby Tottiford and Trenchford reservoirs are the draw rather than Kennick itself.

Is there parking and toilets?

Yes, both are on site.

Do we need to book ahead?

There's no booking link listed, so it reads as a turn-up spot.
