What it’s like

A miniature train trundles round the park, and there's no set timetable beyond checking their Facebook first.

Miniature train rides round the park are the whole point here. It's a small, simple sort of outing rather than a big day out, the kind of stop you fold into a longer walk or a trip to the playground rather than build a whole afternoon around.

There's no on-site car park, which is the main catch. Parking is free on the surrounding streets but it comes with restrictions, so it's worth glancing at the signs before you leave the car for a while. If you're coming by public transport, Hove and Preston Park stations are both about a 20 minute walk, and a handful of buses stop nearby.

The 2026 season has started, but running days aren't fixed, so checking their Facebook page before you set off saves a wasted trip. It's not the sort of place you plan a whole day around, more one you check on the way past and hop on if the train's running.
