What it’s like

A garden centre browse with a proper sit-down stop, the Topiary Tearoom, tucked into the day rather than the point of it.

This is one for a slower sort of outing, wandering the plant aisles and gift shop rather than anything built for kids specifically. There's no play area listed, so it works best as a stop where the children come along rather than the reason you're going, maybe on the way to or from somewhere with actual climbing frames.

The Topiary Tearoom is the bit that'll get remembered, or at least the cake will. It runs daily from 9:30am to 3:30pm, so if you're planning lunch there, don't leave it too late in the afternoon, last orders are 3pm. The garden centre itself keeps longer hours, open till 5pm most days and a later start on Sundays at 10:30am.

There's no booking involved, you just turn up. Opening hours are generous through the week, which makes it easy to fit round nap times or school pickup without much planning.
