What it’s like
Zip wires, a 15 metre climbing wall and England's first Air Jump make this an outdoor adventure day for kids six and up.
This is a climb-and-clip sort of place: high ropes with safety cables, a purpose built 15 metre climbing wall with eight climbs of varying difficulty, zip wires and abseiling. Archery's on the list too, and the Air Jump is the one to save for last since the site reckons it's the first of its kind in England, which is a decent bragging right for a seven-year-old at school on Monday.
Six is the minimum age for any activity, and a few are only suitable from eight, so it's worth matching the day to what your child can actually do rather than what they want to do. Birthday parties run as a full day (four activities, 10am to 4:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break, £55 a child) or a half day (two activities, either morning or afternoon, £30 a child). You need eight children minimum to book one, which rules it out as a small, casual gathering, and there's a £100 deposit with the balance due a week before.
One adult has to stay with the party group for the whole session, but that supervising adult goes free. Parking's free, which softens the deposit a bit.
Sat nav struggles with the postcode here. Not the sort of detail you want to discover halfway down a country lane with a car full of six-year-olds in helmets.
