What it’s like

Kayaking, high ropes and a zipwire through the trees on the River Bure, built for school and group bookings rather than casual drop-ins.

This is a group activity centre first, so the day looks like a timetable rather than a wander round. Kids get on the water in kayaks or on the giant SUPs, climb the 10m-plus abseiling tower, have a go at archery, and if the numbers work there's bushcraft with fire building and shelter construction. The crate stacking challenge is the one that gets competitive fast, and pond dipping is there for when everyone needs to slow down for twenty minutes.

Ages run from 4 to 18, so a family group with a wide gap in ages can still find something each child can actually do, though younger ones will lean towards the Explore and Discover style activities rather than the high ropes. Schools get steered towards a mix across the categories depending on key stage, which suggests the older the group the more of the adrenaline stuff gets mixed in.

The zipwire has an 18 stone weight limit, worth knowing before anyone builds their heart set on it. The site is nut-free, no nuts and nothing labelled 'may contain', and if you're bringing food for the group, fridge space is tight so don't plan on chilling much.

Booking isn't a same-day thing. A provisional booking holds for 30 days, then you need the form back and a non-refundable deposit to lock it in, which is a fair chunk of admin if you're organising this for a school trip or a big group and want the date to actually stick. Best to sort it early rather than leave it to the last month.

Booking
Provisional bookings held for 30 days
  • The 30-day provisional hold means you can't book this last minute, sort it early if the date matters
  • Nut-free site, so check what you're packing before you bring it
  • Crate stacking is the one that turns into a proper competition between kids
  • Fridge space is limited if you're bringing your own food for the group

Plan your visit

Do we need to book ahead?

Booking is required, and it is not a quick turnaround. A provisional booking is held for 30 days, then you need the booking form and a non-refundable deposit to confirm it.

What age range is this suitable for?

From 4 up to 18. Younger kids get steered towards gentler activities like pond dipping and the Explore and Discover sessions, while the high ropes and zipwire suit the older end.

Can my child use the zipwire?

As long as they're under the 18 stone (114.5kg) weight limit. Worth checking against that before anyone gets their hopes up.

Is there food for allergies to think about?

It's a nut-free site, so nothing containing nuts or labelled 'may contain nuts' is allowed in. Fridge space for food you bring is limited too, so don't count on storing much.

Can they cater for kids with additional needs?

They say they work with schools, families and group leaders to adapt activities to individual needs. Best to talk it through with them directly when you book.

What kind of activities are on offer?

Kayaking and paddleboarding on the River Bure, a high ropes course and zipwire, archery, climbing, bushcraft, crate stacking and pond dipping. Groups usually mix a few together rather than doing just one.
