What it’s like

A working farm shop with pick your own fruit and veg in season, plus Christmas trees and wreaths from December.

The picking is the whole point here. You wander the rows, fill your own punnet or bag with whatever's ready, and pay for what you take home rather than a set entry fee. It's a proper hands-in-the-dirt job rather than a soft play version of farm life, so a wet week probably means muddy wellies more than muddy tempers.

Pick your own runs slightly shorter hours than the shop itself, Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 4:30pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, with last entry half an hour or so before that. The farm shop stays open a bit later, so if you've missed the picking window there's still local honey, apple juice, free-range eggs and fresh produce to bring home instead. Come December the same fields turn over to Christmas trees and wreaths, which is a nice reason to go back even once the summer picking is done.

There's no booking link, so this reads as a turn-up sort of place rather than one you need to plan weeks ahead for. If you're coming by train, Knockholt station isn't far, though it's a proper walk: follow the public footpath sign over the bridge and across Chelsfield Lakes golf course to get there.
