What it’s like
Eighteen holes of outdoor adventure golf past Temple Island and a Fender Stratocaster, taking about an hour to finish.
Eighteen holes wind past local landmarks done in miniature, Friar Park, a giant Fender Stratocaster, Temple Island and Henley Bridge, and there's even a rowing boat once used by Matthew Pinsent and Steve Redgrave to spot along the way. It's a decent excuse to get a seven-year-old actually looking at their surroundings rather than just whacking a ball.
Everyone gets a putter and ball sized for adult or junior hands, and most rounds take 40 to 60 minutes depending on how busy the course is and how competitive your group gets. It's £9 for adults, £7 for juniors aged 4 to 17, students and OAPs, or £29 for a family of two adults and three kids, which is the sensible option if you're going as a full crew. Henley residents get in for £5, though that discount is only for the resident, not the rest of their party, which feels like a small tease.
You don't have to book, but it's worth doing online since walk-ups are only fitted in if there's room, and turning up 15 minutes early is a good habit given parking at Mill Meadows can fill up fast. The course is fully outdoors and stays open in most weather, with closures only if it turns genuinely dangerous, so don't expect a refund just because it's drizzling. Prams, wheelchairs and mobility scooters can get round fine, and there are adjustable putters for wheelchair users, with carers going free if they're not playing.
If you're early or the course is full, Mill Meadows has cafes nearby including one at the River and Rowing Museum, so it's not a wasted wait. There's a cafe at the course itself too, plus toilets and baby change, so a short visit doesn't need much planning beyond checking the parking situation.
