What it’s like
Eighteen themed holes of crazy golf with a windmill, loop de loop and train to putt through, out in the country park.
Eighteen holes here, each with its own obstacle rather than the usual flat green with a bump in it. There's a windmill, a loop de loop, a train and a run of bridges, so a round takes a bit longer than you'd think once everyone's had three goes at the tricky ones. It suits four-year-olds up to whatever age still enjoys shouting at a golf ball, and under-4s go free if you've got a younger one tagging along in the buggy.
Weekends and school and bank holidays it's open 10 till 5, with last entry at 4, so don't turn up at quarter to expecting a full round. A single player is £6.50, but it drops to £6 each if you're a group of four, which makes it one of those places where you want to rope in another family rather than go as a pair. Walk-ins work fine, or you can book online if you'd rather have it sorted before you leave the house.
Parking is 150 yards away at the main Country Park car park, an easy walk even with clubs and a toddler in tow. If you're coming without a car, the 128 or 129 bus runs hourly between Reading and Wokingham on most days bar Sunday, or it's about 15 minutes on foot from Winnersh train station.
Birthday parties are clearly a big part of what they do here, and during term time groups can book the course exclusively right up until 8:30 in the evening, which is handy if you want the whole place to yourselves without fighting the weekend queues.
