What it’s like
An 18-hole mini golf course winding through themed garden areas in a woodland setting, with a few plant facts thrown in along the way.
You're putting through a series of themed garden areas rather than the usual pirate ships and windmills, and the holes pick up little facts about plants and well-known gardeners as you go round. It's a nice change if you've done the standard crazy golf circuit a dozen times already, and at 18 holes there's enough here to feel like a proper round rather than a quick five minutes.
Most groups get round in about 45 minutes, which feels about right for a three-year-old's attention span and still leaves the grown-ups wanting another go. Kids under 3 play free, and at £9 a child and £12.50 an adult it's not the cheapest round of mini golf you'll play, but the setting does a lot of the work. There's free parking on site and a café on hand for hot lunches, pastries or an ice cream afterwards.
Because it's all outside among slopes and uneven paths, it isn't accessible if you're a wheelchair user or have limited mobility, and narrow bridges and steep gradients rule out buggies on the course too. Light rain won't stop play, but they'll advise on your options if the weather turns properly nasty. Booking isn't essential, though it's worth doing at weekends and in the holidays if you want a set time slot rather than taking your chances as a walk-in.
