What it’s like
A free park with a toddler play area, climbing rocks, a three-wall climbing feature and a cinder running track to try out.
There's a proper stretch of things to do here rather than just one climbing frame and a bench. Toddlers get their own enclosed area with swings, slides and rockers, away from the bigger children's play areas with their climbing frames and swings. Older kids can head for the climbing rocks or the climbing wall, which the site describes as three towering walls, so it's the bit worth saving for last if you've got a seven-year-old with energy to spare.
Beyond the play equipment there's a full-sized cinder running track and a basketball court, plus outdoor gym equipment if you fancy doing something other than supervise from a bench. It's all free to get into and the parking on Ivy Road is free too, which makes it an easy one to drop into for an hour without any spending decisions to make.
The one thing to plan around is toilets. There generally aren't any on site, only porter loos when an event is on, so sort that out before you arrive rather than after. Dogs are welcome if they're well-controlled and you clear up after them, and there's a picnic area if you want to make a packed lunch out of the visit. Just don't bring a drone, the park sits too close to the airport for that.
