What it’s like

A free concrete skate park with bowls and terrain plus a separate beginners area for kids getting their balance on a board.

Concrete bowls and terrain make up the main draw here, the sort of setup that'll suit a kid who's already confident on a board and wants something with a bit of shape to it. There's a beginners area too, kept apart from the main terrain, which is the sensible bit of design if you've got a six or seven-year-old still working out how to stay upright.

It's free to get in, no booking, so it works well as a turn-up-and-see-if-it's-quiet sort of trip rather than something you need to plan around. Six seems to be roughly where kids are ready for it, given the terrain is proper concrete rather than a soft-edged toddler setup. There's a water fountain in the beginners area, which is a small thing but useful when you've forgotten the bottles again.

Bring your own pads and helmet since this isn't the kind of spot with hire kit on site. It suits an afternoon rather than an all-day booking, the sort of visit where you drop in, let them have a go on the beginners bit, then watch them eye up the bowls for next time.
