Game of Throwing

What it’s like
Axe throwing lanes with an instructor guiding you from safety brief through to full scoring games, minimum age 10.
You get shown the basics first: how to hold the axe, how to throw it properly, and how the scoring works, before you settle into a lane with an instructor keeping an eye on things throughout. Each lane takes up to six players, or five if you land one of the newer interactive lanes, so it works fine for a small group as well as a couple of people.
The minimum age is 10, and anyone under 16 needs an adult in the lane with them, which is worth knowing if you were picturing dropping the kids off and having a coffee. Spectators aren't allowed in at all, so everyone in your group needs an actual ticket, no hanging about watching from the side.
Shoes matter here. Closed-toe and flat is what they want, so trainers are fine but sandals or flip flops will get you turned away. Sessions run most days from midday, though Saturday opens earlier at 10am and Friday and Saturday nights stretch out to 10pm.
Booking ahead is the sensible move since online tickets do sell out, though walk-up tickets are sold if there's stock left. Turn up ten minutes early to check in properly. It's not a session to do after a few drinks either, since anyone who seems unsteady gets moved to spectating with no refund, so pace yourselves before you arrive rather than during.

Plan your visit
What's the minimum age?
Ten, and anyone under 16 needs an adult aged 18 or over throwing alongside them in the lane.
Do we need to book in advance?
It's recommended since online tickets can sell out. Walk-up tickets are available if there's stock left, but advance tickets usually come off sale two hours before a session starts.
Can someone just watch instead of taking part?
No spectators, only people with a ticket can get in.
What should we wear?
Closed-toe shoes that cover the whole foot, no flip flops or sandals. Flat shoes are best for the actual throwing.
How long does a session take?
You get a safety brief first, then instruction on throwing technique, then games with scoring, all with an instructor on your lane throughout.
What if we've had a drink beforehand?
Best avoided. If instructors think you're unsafe you'll be switched to spectating for the rest of the session and there's no refund.
