What it’s like
Instructor-led axe throwing lanes for teens and adults, not a kids' activity in the usual sense.
This is proper axe throwing, not the foam-tipped kind. You get a safety brief first, then an instructor shows you how to actually land one in the target before the scoring system takes over and it turns competitive fast. Each lane has an instructor on it the whole time, up to six players on a standard lane or five on the newer ChampThrow ones, so nobody's chucking anything without someone watching closely.
The age line matters here. Minimum age is 10, and anyone under 16 has to be in the lane with an adult who's 18 or over, so this isn't a session you can drop the kids off at. It suits a teenager's birthday or a family group with older kids far better than a mixed-age day out.
Turn up in closed-toe shoes, flat ones ideally, because flip flops and sandals aren't allowed and you'll be thrown off your aim in trainers with no grip anyway. They want you there 10 minutes before your slot for check-in, which is easy to forget when you're rushing across town, and there's no on-site parking so factor that into your journey. One catch worth knowing: only ticketed players get into the venue, so if half the group just wants to watch, they'll be waiting outside rather than cheering you on.
Book online rather than hoping for a walk-in. Tickets come off sale two hours before a session starts and can sell out entirely, so turning up on the day is a gamble. They do run birthday parties and group bookings, and if you want a slot outside the usual hours it is worth getting in touch directly with the venue about whole venue hire.

Plan your visit
How old do kids need to be?
Ten is the minimum age to throw. Anyone under 16 needs to be in the lane with an adult aged 18 or over.
Do we need to book ahead?
Yes, and it is the sensible way in. Tickets are usually pulled off sale two hours before the session starts and can sell out.
Can family or friends come and just watch?
No, only ticketed players are allowed into the venue, so spectators wait outside.
What should we wear?
Closed-toe shoes that cover the whole foot, no flip flops or sandals. Flat shoes are best for throwing in.
Is there parking on site?
There is no on-site parking, so you will need to sort somewhere nearby before your session.
