What it’s like
A sofa-seat cinema with Baby Club and Toddler Club screenings, plus food brought right to your seat.
This is the cinema for anyone who has tried to take a baby to a normal screening and regretted it. Baby Club is built for under-12-month-olds, with the volume turned down and soft lighting instead of a blackout, and both parents can bring the baby along. Toddler Club does the same job for ages 1 to 5, reduced sound and dimmed lights, and each ticket actually covers two seats, one for you and one for your toddler. Either way you get a hot drink and cake or popcorn thrown in, which softens the blow of another rewatch of whatever's on.
Outside of those dedicated slots, babies under 12 months can still come to any U or PG film before 5pm free of charge, though the site is upfront that the sound might be too much for little ears and you could be asked to leave if it all gets too much. After 5pm that option closes. School holidays bring Family Film Club, off-peak screenings with child tickets cut by half and no cap on how many kids get the discount, which is the one to save for a rainy Tuesday in half term.
Food comes from the Spielburger kitchen, and there's waiter service that brings hot food and drinks straight to your seat, so you're not queuing at the counter with a toddler in one arm and a large popcorn in the other. The building has step-free access throughout with a lift from street level and a wheelchair space in every screen, though buggies need to stay clear of fire escapes and might have to wait outside the auditorium if a Baby Club session is busy.
Booking isn't required, but they recommend it if you want to avoid disappointment, and there's a £2.50 fee for booking online or by phone. Buy at the box office in person, or sign up as a member, and that fee disappears. There's no cinema car park.

Plan your visit
Can I bring a baby to a normal screening?
Babies under 12 months can go to any U or PG film before 5pm, free of charge. The sound might be too loud for a baby though, and after 5pm babies aren't allowed in.
What happens at Baby Club and Toddler Club?
Both have the sound turned down and softer lighting than a normal screening. You get a hot drink and cake or popcorn included, and a Toddler Club ticket covers you and your toddler as two seats.
Do we need to book ahead?
You don't have to, but they suggest it so you don't miss out. Booking online or by phone adds a £2.50 fee, which you avoid by buying at the box office or being a member.
Is there parking?
Not on site. The NCP on St John Street is about five minutes on foot, and it's open all day and night.
What's there to eat?
The Spielburger kitchen does hot food, drinks and snacks, and they'll bring it to your seat rather than you queuing.
Is it accessible with a wheelchair or buggy?
Step-free throughout with a lift from the street, and each screen has a wheelchair space. Buggies need to stay away from fire escape routes and might have to be left outside during a full Baby Club session.
Is there anything for older kids in the school holidays?
Family Film Club runs through the holidays with off-peak screenings and child tickets at half price, with no limit on how many kids get the discount.
