What it’s like
Private or small-group ballroom and Latin lessons in Easton, built around salsa, with a monthly night out to try the moves for real.
This is a dance school for adults who want to actually learn to dance, not just wave their arms about at a wedding. You can book a one-to-one lesson, or bring a couple of friends along for a group class, and the focus is ballroom and Latin with a particular lean towards salsa.
If you've got two left feet, that's apparently the whole point. The instructor is said to enjoy working with people who've never danced before, or who've tried and given up on it elsewhere, so you don't need to turn up already knowing your steps.
A single private hour is £50, which stings a bit if you're only curious, but the six-lesson package brings that down to £45 a session. Group lessons work out cheaper still at £45 for 55 minutes, split between three or more of you, and they'll fit the time around your diaries rather than sticking to a fixed timetable. Once a month there's a social night out where everyone who's been taking lessons gets to go dancing together, which is the bit that turns a class into something you'd actually keep doing.
One thing to watch: cancel with less than 24 hours notice and you're charged the full lesson rate. Worth locking the date in properly once it's booked rather than treating it as flexible.
