What it’s like

Indoor soft play meets an outdoor jungle frame and seasonal water play, with laser tag thrown in for good measure.

There's a toddler zone for the crawling and sliding set, then a junior zone with a wave slide and giant balls for the ones steadier on their feet. If you've got a seven-year-old who thinks they're fearless, the 6 metre Vertical Dropslip is the bit they'll be on about for weeks, though it's strictly over-sevens only. Outside there's a proper play frame with a crawl tunnel, suspension bridge, ropes and ramps, and laser tag if you fancy something with a bit more running about.

From spring through to autumn there's Monkey Island, a water play area that's weather dependent and worth a quick phone call to check is open before you set off. No food's allowed at Monkey Island itself, so factor in a stop at the café either side, which does paninis, wraps and hot meals with dietary options, food served 10am to 5pm and drinks until 6pm.

Birthday parties start from £14 a head for two hours, weekdays at 4pm, or Saturdays at 10am, 1pm or 4pm. Sundays have the same slots plus an exclusive-use option from 3.30 to 5.30pm at £17 a head if you want the place to yourselves. There's also a sleepover option on Fridays, Saturdays and school holidays, £650 for up to 20 children, which isn't cheap but does mean nobody's clock-watching a two-hour party. Under-ones go free but aren't counted in the head count, catered for or given a sweet cone, and siblings can tag along but pay full entry and won't get a table in the main play area. Deposits are non-refundable whatever happens, lockdowns included, though they'll reschedule rather than just keep your money.

What times are parties on?

Weekdays at 4pm, Saturdays at 10am, 1pm or 4pm, and Sundays at 10am or 1pm, with an exclusive-use Sunday slot from 3.30 to 5.30pm.

Can under-ones come to parties?

They're free but not counted in the head count, catered for or given a sweet cone.

Cancel more than three days out and you get a refund minus the deposit. Less than three days and there's no refund at all.

Is the outdoor area always open?

Only when the weather allows, and Monkey Island water play is seasonal from around March or April to September or October. It's worth phoning ahead to check it's running.

What food is there?

A café serving paninis, wraps, sandwiches and hot meals with dietary options, food until 5pm and drinks until 6pm. You can't eat at Monkey Island itself though.

Is it OK to bring a sibling to someone else's party?

Siblings can come in but pay full entry on reception, and there's no table for them in the main play area, just some space in the party room.
