What it’s like

A small local library with regular craft and story sessions, plus a book festival every August.

This is a proper community library rather than a big central one, and the timetable reflects that. There's Nimble fingers craft club on the last Tuesday of the month, a Stunner session on the first Wednesday, and knit and natter for anyone who fancies bringing their needles along. None of it needs booking as far as they say, so you can just turn up on the right day.

Opening hours are the classic library pattern: Tuesday to Friday nine till five, then a short Saturday morning window from nine to twelve. That Saturday slot is tight if you're planning a proper browse, so the weekday afternoons are the better bet if your week allows it. There's a hearing loop and baby change in, which is a nice practical touch for a small branch.

Once a year there's more going on: the Cheadle Book Festival lands on Saturday 22 August 2026, which is the one to put in the diary if you want the library at its busiest and most bookish. Outside of that it's the quieter, steady rhythm of craft clubs and regular hours you'd expect from a local branch.

Plan your visit

What's on for kids at the library?

There's a Nimble fingers craft club on the last Tuesday of the month and a Stunner session on the first Wednesday. Knit and natter runs too, if that's more your pace.

What are the opening hours?

Tuesday to Friday it's nine till five. Saturday is a short window, nine till twelve, so don't leave your visit too late in the morning.

Do we need to book for the craft sessions?

There's no booking link listed, so it looks like a turn-up-on-the-day sort of thing.

Is there anything special worth planning around?

The Cheadle Book Festival is on Saturday 22 August 2026. That's the day it'll be busiest and most geared up for books.
