What it’s like

A working buffalo farm with a petting farm at weekends, a farm shop and a kitchen serving proper breakfasts and lunch.

The petting farm runs Friday to Sunday, 11am to 3pm, and that's your window for getting up close to the animals. It's £6.50 to get in, which feels fair for a couple of hours of meeting animals on an actual working farm rather than a set-up for the day. Outside those hours, or on other days, the farm shop and Buffalo & Co Kitchen are still open, so you can wander the shop, pick up home-reared buffalo meat, eggs and cheese, or just sit in for breakfast.

Because it's a working farm, expect uneven ground in the petting farm and fields. Dogs are welcome on leads in the Tipi and outdoor seating, but they have to sit out the Farm Shop and Petting Farm itself, mostly for the animals' sake.

Beyond the animals, there's a steady run of seasonal extras: pumpkin painting, wreath workshops, a yoga and crystal sound bath session, even family photo shoots on the farm. These aren't things you turn up for on a whim, most sit in the £15 to £65 range and read as proper booked experiences rather than add-ons, so they're worth planning around rather than expecting on the day. Parking's free on site, and there's baby changing and accessible toilets, with the shop, Tipi and kitchen all step-free.

If you're coming just for the petting farm and shop, a couple of hours covers it comfortably. If you're stacking in a workshop or the kitchen for lunch, you could easily make a half day of it.
