WHERE

Stoke-on-Trent

What it’s like

A quiet working farm campsite near Stoke-on-Trent where you camp or stay in a glamping pod alongside cows, llamas, goats and sheep.

You pitch a tent, park a caravan, or bag one of the glamping pods, then spend your stay wandering fields with cows, llamas, goats, sheep, horses and poultry for company. There's no organised farm trail or feeding session listed, it's more a case of the animals being part of the scenery you walk through, which suits anyone who wants a proper unwind rather than a packed itinerary.

It's a quiet site by design. No noise after 11pm is the rule, so this isn't the campsite for a group that wants a late one round the fire pit. That quietness cuts both ways though, it's exactly what makes it work if you've got small kids who need an early night themselves.

A couple of practical things to know before you turn up. Cars have to be moved out of the camping area once you've set up and parked in a designated spot instead, so factor in a bit of a walk back to your pitch with bags. Checkout is midday, which is on the earlier side if you're used to campsites that let you linger over a late breakfast.

Plan your visit

What do the kids actually do here?

Mostly wander the fields and see the farm animals up close, cows, llamas, goats, sheep, horses and poultry. There's no set programme, it's a walk-round-and-look kind of visit.

Can we bring a car onto the pitch?

You can drive in to unload, but the car then has to move to a designated parking area away from the camping field.

Is it OK to stay up late round the campfire?

Not really, they run a quiet site with no noise allowed after 11pm.

What time do we need to check out?

Midday for camping, so pack up before lunch.
