What it’s like

A working dairy farm where you buy fresh milk, eggs and ice cream from vending machines, plus a maize maze and pumpkin patch in season.

This is a farm shop built around vending machines rather than a till. You wander up, feed in your coins or card, and out comes fresh milk, a milkshake in whatever flavour they've got that day, or a tub of ice cream. It sounds gimmicky written down but it is genuinely how the place works, and there is something satisfying about watching your own bottle fill up rather than just being handed one.

Beyond the machines there is a maize maze and a pumpkin patch, both seasonal, so the visit changes depending on when you turn up. Free range eggs and duck eggs are sold on site too if you want to take some home alongside the milk. Entry itself is free, and everything is priced individually, from £1 for a half litre of milk up to £6 for the big 700ml ice cream tub, so a visit can cost as little as the price of one milkshake or turn into a proper shopping trip.

It's open every day from 8am to 8pm, which is generous for a farm and means an early trip or a last-minute evening one both work. During the week you'll sometimes find guest food traders on site, wood-fired pizza vans and Indian street food among them, which turns a quick milk run into more of an outing. One thing worth flagging: this is a working farm with moving machinery about, so it's not a place to let kids wander off unsupervised.

Need to know

Food
Guest food providers during the week including wood-fired pizza vans and Indian street food
  • The maize maze and pumpkin patch are seasonal, not year-round.
  • Prices are per item rather than one entry fee, so costs add up if you buy milk, eggs and ice cream in one visit.
  • Duck eggs are sold alongside the usual free range eggs if you fancy something different.
  • Being open until 8pm every day makes it easy to fit in outside normal farm-visit hours.
