What it’s like

A working garden centre and farm shop with a tea room, gift shop and Sunday lunches near Stoke-on-Trent.

This one's built around a garden centre and a proper tea room rather than a big petting farm setup, so the day out here is a slower, more grown-up sort of visit than a full-on farm attraction. You wander the plants and displays, have a look round the gift shop, then settle in for something to eat. It suits a family who fancies a calm morning out rather than one chasing a toddler between animal pens.

The tea room does hot food until 3pm, then coffee and cake until 4pm, and there's a Sunday lunch worth building the visit around. They say booking is advisable for Sunday Lunch and for any table of five or more, which is worth sorting ahead if you're bringing the whole crew on a Sunday. Everything else, you can just turn up.

Hours are generous and daily: the garden centre runs 9am to 5pm, the gift shop to 4.30pm and the tea room to 4pm, so there's no rush to squeeze it into a tight window. It's a good one to pair with a plant browse and a leisurely lunch rather than treating it as the main event for the kids, and the lack of a big list of play features means you're not spending the day on your feet chasing them round.

Plan your visit

What's there for the kids to do?

It's set up more as a garden centre and tea room than a big activity farm, so it's a gentler visit: a wander round, a look in the gift shop, then lunch.

Do we need to book?

Not for a general visit. They do ask you to book for Sunday Lunch and for any table of five or more.

What time does the food stop?

Hot food from the kitchen finishes at 3pm, but you can still get coffee and cake until 4pm.

What are the opening hours?

The garden centre is open 9am to 5pm daily, the tea room 9.30am to 4pm and the gift shop 9.30am to 4.30pm.
