What it’s like

Watch Elite League ice hockey live, with doors opening 90 minutes before face-off and standing allowed in one block.

A match night here means fast, loud ice hockey, the Cardiff Devils taking on their Elite League rivals with the crowd noise to match. Doors open 90 minutes before face-off, which gives you time to find your seats and grab something from one of the food outlets before it starts. The game itself has two 15 minute period breaks, so a 19:30 face-off runs well into the evening.

Under 16s need an adult with them, and anyone over 2 needs their own ticket since babies on a lap don't count. Standing is only allowed in Block 13; everywhere else you're expected to stay seated once the puck's in play, which is a fair rule but worth knowing if you've got a wriggly toddler who wants to bounce about.

Pushchairs aren't allowed into the main arena itself, though you can leave one at skate hire during the game, and the venue's clear they're not liable if anything happens to it there. Food and drink from outside isn't permitted either, but there are several hot and cold outlets plus bars and kiosks inside, so you're not stuck.

Tickets go on general sale a calendar month before each match and are booked online or by phone, and once bought they're non-refundable. The arena's fully wheelchair accessible with a lift to the upper concourse and disabled toilets on both levels, though wheelchair spaces are limited and best booked ahead. Cogan station is a 10 minute walk away if you fancy leaving the car.

Plan your visit

How much are tickets and how do we book?

Tickets go on general sale a calendar month before the match date. Book online or by phoning the box office on 0800 0842 666.

Do babies and toddlers need a ticket?

Children 2 and under don't need one and sit on an adult's lap instead. Everyone older needs their own seat.

Is there an age limit?

No age limit at all, but under 16s must have an adult with them.

What time should we arrive?

Doors open 90 minutes before face-off, which gives you a decent window to get settled and grab food first.

How long does a match last?

There are two 15 minute period breaks on top of the playing time, so it runs longer than the face-off time suggests.

Can we bring our own snacks?

Outside food and drink isn't allowed. There are hot and cold food outlets plus bars inside instead.

What if we need to cancel?

Match night tickets can't be refunded or exchanged once bought, so check the date suits everyone first.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

There's a lift to the upper concourse and disabled toilets on both levels. Wheelchair spaces are limited, so book ahead by phone or online.
