What it’s like

Rod-and-line coarse fishing on Owl Tree Pond, plus carp fishing on the Upper and Lower Alt Lakes.

Three waters to try here. Owl Tree Pond is set up for coarse fishing with a rod and line, and the site says every peg on it will be wheelchair accessible once the building work finishes. The Upper and Lower Alt Lakes are the carp waters, for anyone after something with a bit more fight on the end of the line.

It's still a building site in parts, by their own admission, so not everything is up and running yet. Disabled toilets and showers are being added alongside the accessible pegs, which is a decent sign of where they're heading even if it means turning up now might feel a bit unfinished in places. There's an accessible toilet and parking already on site, and wheelchair access is a stated priority rather than an afterthought.

It suits anyone who fishes rather than a family day out in the usual sense. If you've got a keen young angler who can sit still with a rod for a couple of hours, Owl Tree Pond sounds like the gentler introduction, with the two Alt Lakes there for when they want a proper carp to test their patience.
