What it’s like
Free trails for walking, cycling and horse riding across a big stretch of Norfolk countryside, with picnic benches dotted about.
There's no entry fee here, which makes it an easy yes on a free Saturday. The walking trails are the main event, and they're open enough for cycling too, so if your kids have just learned to ride without stabilisers this is a decent place to let them loose on a longer stretch than the local park allows. Horse riding is allowed on the trails as well, which tells you the paths are wide and the ground's built for more than a buggy.
Bring a picnic and use the benches dotted around, since there's nothing on site to buy from yet. That's about to change though, as the park has a new visitor centre and café planned, along with better toilets, parking and accessibility, so if you've been before and found the facilities basic, it's worth another look once that's done.
Parking is free but limited, split across two small car parks off Haveringland Road, so turning up early on a nice weekend saves you circling. Dogs are welcome if kept under control and in sight, and the site's clear that they need to stay away from wildlife, livestock, horses and other walkers unless invited over, which matters given how much of this park is shared with horse riders.
The park also runs family-friendly events from time to time, which is worth building a visit around if you want more than just a walk.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost to get in?
Entry is free. The only cost you're likely to hit is nothing, really, since there's no café or shop on site yet.
Is there anywhere to eat?
Not on site at the moment, so pack a picnic and use one of the benches. A visitor centre and café are planned for the future.
Where do we park and is it free?
Parking's free at two car parks off Haveringland Road, but space is limited, so an early start helps on busy days.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes, as long as they're kept under control and in sight, and away from wildlife, livestock, horses and other visitors unless invited.
Can the kids cycle or ride horses there?
Both are allowed on the trails, so it works for a family bike ride as well as a walk.
