What it’s like
Rides over the water, from a roller coaster and helter skelter to teacups and a carousel, plus arcades and soft play.
Out over the sea, you've got a proper little fairground: the Air Race roller coaster, the Crazy Mouse, a helter skelter, teacups and a galloper's carousel for the ones who want something gentler. There's a Dragon Fly ride and Fantasia's ride cars too, and arcades for whenever the pocket money's burning a hole. Younger ones who aren't fussed about coasters get a soft play area to themselves.
Admission is £1 a person, but only from March to October and at peak times, and it stops once the rides and kiosks start closing up for the evening. Outside that it seems you can just wander on. Weekdays it's open 11am to 7.30pm, weekends 10am to 9pm, so there's a decent stretch of the day to fill whichever slot you pick.
It's a Grade II* listed structure, which is charming right up until you're pushing a buggy over an uneven bit of boardwalk, and the site itself flags some areas as bumpy. That said it's built to be fully accessible, with flat surfaces or ramps and mobility scooters catered for, and there's a carer's wristband scheme if you're bringing someone with a disability. Food-wise there's Palm Court for fish and chips and a family menu, Horatio's Bar for pub food, and kiosks doing pizza, donuts and candy floss along the way, and staff at Palm Court will heat up baby food for free if you ask.
Some rides restrict access on safety grounds. Dogs are welcome if they're assistance dogs, but they can't go on the rides or be left tethered anywhere. Parking is pay and display on Madeira Drive, and there's a drop-off bay right opposite the entrance if you're just dropping someone at the door.
