What it’s like
Free Bookbug sessions and a quiet corner of books for babies and toddlers, with proper evening opening twice a week.
This is a library, so the obvious thing happens here: books, a place to sit and read them, and Bookbug sessions aimed at babies, toddlers and under-fives. If you've got a small one who likes songs and rhymes more than sitting still, that's your reason to go rather than just browsing the shelves.
It's free to get in, which counts for something when you're trying to fill a wet Tuesday afternoon without spending anything. There's baby change and it's described as breastfeeding friendly, so a session with a very small baby isn't a logistical nightmare. Wifi's there too if you need to sit and do something on your phone while they look at picture books.
Opening hours are a bit uneven across the week. Tuesday and Thursday it's open until 8pm, but Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday it shuts at 5pm, so an after-work visit only really works on two days. There's no Sunday listed, worth having in your head before you plan a weekend trip.
Beyond Bookbug there are weekly classes and events, and Digi-PALS sessions if anyone in the house needs a hand with the digital side of things. It's an indoor space throughout, so it's a sound option when the weather's against you and you just need somewhere warm to sit for half an hour.
