What it’s like

Ten rollercoasters, a soaking water ride and a whole Nickelodeon corner for the younger ones, all on Blackpool seafront.

This is the big one for anyone with a coaster fan in the family. Ten rollercoasters is a proper claim to make, and there's the water ride the site bills as Europe's best if you don't mind sitting in wet clothes for the rest of the afternoon. Nickelodeon Land handles the younger end, with rides and meet and greets scaled down for smaller kids, plus under-2s attractions if you've got a baby in tow. Older kids who want a scare rather than a soaking can go looking for Journey to Hell or Pasaje Del Terror, and Ripley's Believe It or Not! is there for a slower half hour when everyone's legs need a rest.

Tickets aren't cheap. The Nickelodeon eTicket starts at £18, but the All You Can Ride pass is from £30 and a full individual ticket runs to £35, so a family trip adds up fast before you've bought a single chip. One thing that softens the blow: come back the next day and they'll email you a link to return for £25, which is worth having if you're staying in Blackpool for more than one day anyway.

Worth knowing before you plan the day: Nickelodeon Land shuts an hour before the rest of the park, so if that's the bit your youngest cares about most, don't leave it till last. Not every ride runs every day either, with maintenance closures cropping up, so a coaster you've promised a nine-year-old might be the one that's down. You can't bring your own food into the main park, only bottled water and medical or dietary food, though there's a picnic area outside the gates by Adventure Golf if you'd rather eat what you packed.

Parking is its own decision to make. The North Car Park on Balmoral Road is £18 on the day or £20 online for a reserved spot, with East and West at £15, and there's no space for caravans or motorhomes. Food inside covers the usual seaside spread, pizza, fish and chips, hot dogs, donuts, with allergen information available if you need it. If anyone in your group struggles with standing in queues, the EasyPass system and discounted Essential Companion tickets for carers are both worth looking into before you go.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

The Nickelodeon eTicket starts at £18, the Flex Pass is £25, and the All You Can Ride pass is from £30. A full individual ticket is around £35.

Do we need to book?

Yes, booking is required rather than turning up and buying on the gate.

Is it any good for a toddler?

There are under-2s attractions with adult supervision and Nickelodeon Land is pitched at younger kids, so a toddler has plenty to do without going near the big coasters.

What time does everything close?

Opening hours vary by season, from 11am-4pm in February half term up to 10am-9pm for Twilight Thrills and Halloween events. Nickelodeon Land closes an hour before the main park, so plan around that if it's the main draw for your kids.

Can we bring a picnic?

Not into the main park itself, no, only bottled water and medical or dietary food. There's a dedicated picnic area just outside the main gates at Adventure Golf.

What's there to eat inside?

Multiple cafés and restaurants doing pizza, fish and chips, gyros, hot dogs and donuts, with allergen information available and vegetarian and kids' menu options.

Where do we park and how much is it?

North Car Park on Balmoral Road is £18 on the day or £20 online for a reserved space. East and West Car Parks are £15. There's no parking for caravans or motorhomes.

Is there a discount if we want to come back?

The day after your visit they email the lead booker a link to return for £25 on any day that suits.

Are there discounts for disabled visitors or carers?

An EasyPass virtual queue system is available for anyone who can't stand in the main queue, and Essential Companion tickets for carers cost £25, a saving of up to £35 on the full eTicket price.

Is it open all year?

The park runs from March through to the end of November, with opening times changing by season.

Can we do birthday parties there?

Birthday parties and group bookings are both listed as options.

Are all the rides running on the day we visit?

Not always. Routine maintenance closures mean not every ride is guaranteed to be open, so it's a good idea to have a backup favourite in mind.
