What it’s like

Saturday drama classes for ages 7 to 18, building acting skills and confidence, with a 50-seat theatre on site for proper performances.

Saturdays here are given over to drama classes for ages 7 to 18, working on acting skills, confidence and creativity rather than just putting on a show at the end of term. It's a decent stretch of the weekend to commit to, so it suits a kid who already knows they like performing rather than one you're hoping to convert.

The building has its own theatre, the Lantern, seating just 50, which is small enough that professional performances there feel close up rather than distant. If your child is in the classes, it's also worth knowing there's a stage they might eventually get to stand on, which is no small thing at that age.

There's a café and bar on site for the wait, useful if you're not going to make the round trip home and back within a Saturday session. Parking in the area is described as not easy, so the walk from Brighton station, about 15 minutes, or one of the buses (52, 1A, 2A, 7, 37, 47) is the more sensible way in.

The place is open daily from 10am to 10pm, which covers the Saturday classes comfortably and leaves room for evening performances too.
