What it’s like
A hands-on maker space where you hire the kit yourself, from 3D printers to laser cutters and badge makers.
This one's a workshop rather than a browse-and-buy, though there's a gift shop too if you just want to look. Upstairs is the Makers' Hub, where you hire the equipment and make the thing yourself: a 3D printer for a design you've drawn up, a laser cutter for a gift, a vinyl cutter, or the badge maker if you fancy something quicker and smaller. It suits anyone who already has an idea they want to make real rather than a family turning up with nothing planned.
The Hub only runs Thursday and Friday, 12pm to 6pm, which narrows your options if you're working around a weekend. The shop itself is open all week, Monday to Saturday 11am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm, so you can pop in outside those two days even if the equipment room is shut.
One genuine faff: the Makers' Hub is up a flight of stairs. Booking ahead is the sensible move since walk-in slots depend on what capacity's free that day, but you're not locked into it if you fancy chancing a walk-in.
