Galleries & Exhibitions in Norwich

Norwich has a proper cluster of small galleries right in the centre, and most of them cost nothing. OUTPOST Gallery is free, step-free and open Thursday to Sunday, while Hungate Medieval Art puts its collection inside a historic church, with brass-rubbing to try and a garden to sit in afterwards. Anteros Arts Foundation is free to wander too, plus it runs proper art courses if anyone fancies learning gouache or drawing basics. For contemporary work that changes often, Mandell's Gallery refreshes its shows every four weeks. If a rainy indoor afternoon is the aim, stick to the central galleries; if you want outdoor space and aircraft to climb into, City of Norwich Aviation Museum has nearly 30 planes and a Vulcan Bomber cockpit for those tall enough, with free parking and a cafe. The RAF Air Defence Radar Museum, a bit further out, has eighteen rooms of Cold War history plus a small grassed play area outside for younger visitors who need a break from looking at exhibits.
