Parks & Playgrounds in Leicester

There isn't a long list of parks on here for Leicester itself, but what's included is worth knowing about. Nottingham Arboretum is the easy one, a free tree trail past 800-plus trees on flat paths, right by Nottingham's tram stops, so no faff with parking. It's a fair way out, but flat paths and step-free access make it manageable with a pushchair or a wheelchair. For something bigger, it's a longer trip out to Retford, where Sundown Adventureland (the park itself is at Rampton) is built for under-10s, with 30-plus rides, indoor play and free entry for anyone under 90cm. Tickets start at £16.60 and parking is free, though you'll want to book ahead. If you're after a free, gentle morning, the Arboretum is the one to pick. If your children are small and you want rides and cover from the weather, Sundown is worth the distance, just budget the extra time to get there.
