It's a night out, not a paddle in the sea, so don't bring the kids expecting buckets and spades. For that, you're looking at a proper trip out to Nottingham Beach, a pop-up with real sand, a pool and paid rides plunked in the middle of the city. It's free to get in and runs all summer, which makes it the one for toddlers and older kids alike, though the rides will cost extra and it's worth having cash as well as a card on you. Golden Beach, meanwhile, is strictly for the grown-ups after dark.
