Edinburgh Young Musicians, nearer the centre, runs Saturday morning classes for ages 3 to 18, starting with musical play and building up to string orchestra and chamber music. For younger children, the musical play end of Edinburgh Young Musicians is the gentler starting point, with older siblings able to progress to orchestra within the same setup. If lessons per session suit your budget better than a term-long commitment, Morningside's pay-as-you-go model is worth a look. And if it is you fancying the singing rather than your kids, Edinburgh's Voice of the Town Choir is adults only (18+), teaching harmonies by ear with choreography, no sheet music needed, though you will need to book ahead.
