Immersive & Touring Exhibitions in Edinburgh
Edinburgh doesn't do many straightforward exhibition halls, but it makes up for that with variety. The Royal Botanic Garden is free to wander, with glasshouses and acres of paths right in the city. The Museum of Magic, Fortune-telling and Witchcraft, entry from £3.50 and pitched at up to age 18, packs a mummified cat and the world's oldest Ouija board into a small space near the centre, with a witch trial walking tour thrown in. Out at Newbridge, the Royal Highland Centre is a big showground where the exhibition on offer changes with each visit. If you want something free, both the Botanic Garden and Gilded Balloon at the Museum let you walk in without paying, the latter a performance venue with a changing line-up of shows. The witchcraft museum suits older children more than toddlers, given the subject matter. The Botanic Garden is the one for pushchairs and space to roam outdoors, while the Highland Centre is worth a look before you go since it depends entirely on what's booked in.
