If you want your child to actually get somewhere with an instrument, or just fancy a sing yourself, Cardiff has two quite different options. Forte School of Music runs group and private classes for everyone from babies to adults, with Jungle Music sessions for the tiniest ones and proper piano grades once they are older. The Insole Court Community Choir meets weekly of an evening for adults, with no audition and no need to read music, based at Insole Court. For families with under-fives, Forte is the obvious start, and it flexes as your child grows into private lessons or grade work. If it is you who fancies singing rather than the kids learning an instrument, the choir is free to join and low pressure, a nice way to end the day without homework or grades attached. Both sit close to the centre, so neither means a long trek across the city.
