Pantomime & Family Theatre in Reading

Panto season in Reading means a bit of travel, but nothing too taxing. Wokingham Theatre is the closest option, a community stage putting on eight main productions a year plus youth theatre classes for 7 to 17 year olds. Theatre Royal Windsor does the full old-school panto experience with bars open before curtain up, and out at Aldershot, Princes Hall mixes pantomimes with a Saturday acting class for the kids and grown-up comedy nights on the same stage. If cost matters, Princes Hall starts from £10 and Theatre Royal Windsor from £12.50. For the very youngest, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford runs baby music classes alongside its family shows and riverside café, though it is a longer trip out. Older children might prefer Princes Hall's acting classes to sitting still. Further out still, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre is an easy one if you are coming by train, being a five minute walk from the station.
