Pick-Your-Own & Pumpkin Patches in Preston
Two options if you fancy a proper field trip out of Preston this autumn, both a fair drive rather than a quick pop-out. Holmeswood Flower Farm's Pumpkin Place, out at Ormskirk, lets you pick your own pumpkins straight from the field, along with sunflowers, sweetcorn and flowers, and there's indoor play plus food on site if the picking turns into a longer visit. It's dog friendly too, handy if the whole outing is a family and pet affair. Further out at Saint Helens, Catchdale Moss Farm does pumpkin picking in autumn from £60, then rolls into a full Christmas barn later on with wreath workshops and a tree, plus a bar for the grown-ups once the kids have had their fill of pumpkins. If it's a quicker, cheaper picking trip you're after, Ormskirk is the closer choice and doesn't have an entry price attached in the facts. For a bigger day out with food and drink built in, or if you're already thinking ahead to Christmas, the longer trip to Saint Helens covers both in one visit. Picnics are welcome there if you want to make a day of it.
