Holmeswood Flower Farm / Pumpkin Place Pick Your Own
WHERE
Ormskirk
What it’s like
Pick your own pumpkins, sunflowers, sweetcorn and flowers straight from the field.
This is a working flower farm that turns part of its ground over to picking, so the job on the day is simple: wander the rows and gather your own pumpkins, sunflowers, sweetcorn or flowers to take home. It suits a slow morning or afternoon rather than a quick stop, since the whole point is taking your time over which pumpkin looks best or which sunflower head is at its peak.
There's indoor play on site too, which is a handy card to hold if the picking itself only holds a younger child's attention for twenty minutes. Dogs are welcome around the farm, so it's an easy one to bring along if a dog usually gets left behind on days like this.
The obvious appeal is the pumpkin patch in autumn, but sweetcorn and sunflowers make it worth a visit earlier in the year too. There's food available on site.
