Zed Alley Clayhouse

Bristol
What it’s like
Pottery classes with expert teachers in a Bristol listed building, plus a members' studio for the more experienced.
This is a proper pottery studio rather than a paint-your-own-mug set up. Classes are led by pottery teachers, so if your kids fancy actually working with clay rather than just decorating a bisque animal, this is the place to look at. There's also a members' studio for anyone in the family who's already got the bug and wants to keep coming back.
The building itself is old and it shows: it's a listed building with steps to the front door, two more steps once you're in, and the first floor studio and classroom are up a staircase with a handrail and no lift. Worth thinking about if you've got a buggy or anyone who struggles with stairs, because there's no way round it.
Hours are generous in the week, the studio runs 10am to 9pm Tuesday to Thursday, dropping back to 10am to 5pm at weekends and closing Mondays altogether. There's no free parking on the doorstep, the nearest option is Trenchard Street Car Park about five minutes' walk, though plenty of buses stop at the bottom of Zed Alley and it's a ten minute walk from the bus station if you fancy leaving the car at home.

Do we need to book?
There's no booking link listed, so you'd want to get in touch with the studio directly to sort a class.
What ages is this suitable for?
There's no age range given, so it's best to ask the studio whether a class suits your child's age before you turn up.

Not right outside. Trenchard Street Car Park is about five minutes' walk, or you can hop off one of the buses that stop at the bottom of Zed Alley.
Is it accessible with a buggy or wheelchair?
Not really. It's a listed building with steps to the front door and more steps inside, and the upstairs studio is stairs only, no lift.

Tuesday to Thursday it's 10am to 9pm, Friday to Sunday 10am to 5pm, and it's closed on Mondays.
