What it’s like
Kids get hands in the clay, either building pieces by hand or having a go on the wheel, then paint what they make.
This is the studio for the kid who wants to actually make something rather than just paint a pre-made mug. There's handbuilding, where you shape the clay yourself, and throwing lessons on the pottery wheel if you fancy the messier, more Ghost-film version of pottery. Both end with painting the piece once it's ready.
Private parties run for 6 to 14 people at £40 a head, which is handbuilding rather than the wheel, so it's built for a group booking rather than a couple of families turning up on spec. Throwing lessons are separate and smaller scale, just 1 to 4 people, which suits a birthday kid who wants the wheel experience without a crowd watching them get covered in slip.
One thing to plan around: your pottery doesn't come home with you on the day. It gets fired and glazed, and collection is on Wednesdays between 4 and 8pm. Worth noting they're closed on the 23rd of September, with collection pushed to the week before or after if that lands on your date.
